April is recognized as Child Abuse Prevention Month. Each year in support of Child Abuse Prevention Month the Hampton Child Protection Team (HCPT) coordinates a Blue Candle Light Ceremony. At this event, Hampton children who have been victims of abuse and neglect are remembered.

This year's ceremony took place on Tuesday, April 8th, 2008 at the United Methodist Church located in Downtown Hampton. The location provided a beautiful and serene atmosphere, which aided in the remembrance of victims of child abuse and neglect. The team would like to express sincere gratitude to the Pastor and the members of his congregation for the use of their church.
