2008
Blue Ribbon Campaign
Each year the Hampton Child Protection Team (HCPT) distributes
Blue Ribbons to interested individuals to promote the awareness of and
advocating for the prevention of child abuse and neglect in the city
of Hampton. The blue ribbons are purchased by HCPT, an act which falls
under our Community Awareness Fund. The team has been privileged to have the ribbons placed
on informational cards by Hampton Youth completing their restitution
through the Community Work Alternative Program (CWAP) program with the
8th District Court Service Unit (CSU). The youth are supervised in this
task by the Group Community Work Coordinator under the supervision of
the Special Programs Coordinator. A group of youth before the Court
for various reasons complete the task as part of their community service
work.
What a way to give back to the community!
In addition
to giving back to the community, the youth were educated on ways
to promote the awareness of and prevention of child abuse and neglect.
The collaboration between the Hampton Child Protection Team and the
8th District CSU Special Programs/CWAP is an example of getting the
community involved.
